Mothers Day dining at The Ivy
On Sunday just gone (the 26th of March) I took my mummy to The Ivy for dinner to celebrate Mother’s day. This restaurant has been one of my mums favorites for ‘like’ ever! So naturally I decided to book it and take her as a treat. I love being able to take my mum out and spoil her now and then as she has pretty much given me everything my whole life and I am forever grateful! Anyways, onto the restaurant… Obviously we were running a little late because of wardrobe issues >.< but I called to let them know and they were more then happy to hold the table for us and then once we arrived a few 20 mins late, they took our coats and lead us to our table. The Ivy is plush and traditional and we were in a quiet quaint corner. We were handed our menus and were on our way for a delicious evening! My boyfriend accompanied us as his parents went away for a week so he was with us and I love the fact Ben and my mum get on so well, it literally is perfect. Onto the service, now I don’t really drink alcohol, I like the odd cocktail or a glass of wine now and again but I’m not a big drinker at all so scouring through the cocktail list I was a little lost but came across this quirky named cocktail that just sounded like it tasted great so ordered that but me being me I had to change the cinnamon taste for a St. Germain elder flower to lighten it a little but the waiters couldn’t accommodate enough to all my fussiness from the cocktails to my startes, main AND desert.. yes, I’m that bad (soz) but honestly when I say, they didn’t even bat an eye lid at all my changes and requests which, being a slightly anxious person does worry me that they’ll get fed up, they truly did go above and beyond to see to everything we asked for and made sure every plate was done exactly how we asked, even down to making a knicker blocker glory without chocolate because I was sharing it with my mum and she doesn’t eat chocolate. Everything about our experience there was fabulous and we couldn’t have been happier, the meal was to die for, the service was more then we could have expected, ambiance was perfect, just everything was lovely, lovely, lovely and we will definitely be going back. That was my first experience at the Ivy as an adult as my parents had taken me when I was little but Ben and I had brunch at The Ivy Market grill last year so i’ll get onto a post about there eventually, because we couldn’t stop gushing about how great the food was there either!
Couldn’t recommend this wonderful chain enough.
